And yet another movie that was filmed in my town. The majority of this movie was filmed in the big white country house across the road from our church. In fact, the cast and crew used our church’s parking lot and gym as their “base camp”. Martin Lawrence’s trailer stayed parked at the church too. He had his very own basketball goal brought in and everything. From what I heard he was an asshole but everyone else was very nice.

In case you are wondering why so many movies have been filmed in NW Louisiana I’ll tell you. First of all, it is very inexpensive to film a movie in Louisiana. Lots of movies have been filmed New Orleans for the most part. When Katrina hit, production halted on all these movies so they had to move them to Shreveport. The movie companies were so happy with the area that we have had dozens of movies filmed here. They just keep coming back.

Have I met any movies stars since we became “Little Hollywood”? That would be a no. I go to the school, the library, and the grocery store and that’s about it. My husband tried to talk me into going down to the open casting call yesterday for some Jack Black movie that’s going to be filmed here but I didn’t want to. It would be fun to be an extra in a movie though.

I need to compile a list of movies that have been filmed here in the past 2 years and post them. In my spare time, that is.

Here’s another movie that was filmed in my town. They just wrapped up pretty recently too. Even though it’s got that cute Ryan Sypek (Junior from Wildfire) I probably won’t watch it. It looks so stupid! Oh, and I cannot STAND Jessica Simpson.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is one of my all time favorite books. I read it last December and it just knocked me off my feet. I was so happy when I found out it was being made into a movie. Today I found the trailer online. I cried my eyes out just watching this. If you haven’t read The Kite Runner, do me a favor and give it a shot. I passed it over for months until I finally decided to pick it up at the library. It’s such a moving story.

Last week I finished Khaled Hosseini’s second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns and it was absolutely fabulous. I wasn’t disappointed. He is officially my favorite author (next to JKR, of course).

Daniel Radcliffe has another movie coming out soon. December Boys will be released in the US on Sept 14th. It looks like a really sweet movie. I love a good coming of age drama. At least he’s not playing a character with a prescription drug addiction. I don’t think I could handle that. I know he’s got to expand his acting abilities but I hope he waits a while before attempting anything too deep right now. However, he did just perform nude on stage in Equus. He’s definitely open to trying challenging roles.

Oh, and look how sweet little Danny Rad looked yesterday at the UK premiere of Order of the Phoenix..

My 13 year old inner fangirl has been coming out a lot lately so please excuse me.

Is that bad? He’s over 21 so it’s totally legal. Who cares if he still looks 13. Who cares if he was the star of a Disney Channel series. He’s so CUTE and he Cracks. Me. Up.

So we went to see Transformers last night. It was action-packed from start to finish. The special effects were awesome. My son has been playing with Transformers since he was about 5 so I was very familiar with the different robots. I was whispering to my son during the whole movie, “Look, honey! There’s Optimus Prime!!! OMFG, It’s Bonecrusher!!!” Yeah, we are quite familiar with the Transformers around here.

But, anyway, back to Shia…he is what I like to call “dorky cute”. See? Cute.

And as Louis in Even Stevens.

He’s grown into quite a handsome young man, wouldn’t you say? Can’t wait to see him in more stuff. He’s very entertaining.

Oh, hey! Happy 4th of July! We have a pretty busy day today. We were invited to go swimming at my brother in-law’s house and have cookout. Later in the evening we will be going to watch a big fireworks show down by the river. However, I still have a couple of things to do. I need to make a grocery store run because my kids are piggies and while I’m there I’ve got to buy my husband a pack of Pens for work.

Tonight my 10 year old’s dream is about to come true. I am taking him to see the much anticipated Transformers Movie. He is beside himself with joy and is bouncing off the walls. Me? Eh. I’m just trying to be a good mama.

I’ll get my payback when I’m dragging him all over town for Harry Potter stuff in the next couple of week! Woot!
