Zac Efron to be in Footloose! Filming starts Spring 2009..
Zac Efron as? Ren McCormack? Yes, please.
After watching Zac Efron and director Kenny Ortega deliver a $42 million opening weekend for “High School Musical 3,” Paramount Pictures has fast-tracked “Footloose,” hoping to get the film ready for Efron and Ortega to start production next spring.
The studio has brought on “Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist” director Peter Sollett to rewrite the Jon Hartmere script and hired Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to join Dylan Sellers as producer.
Unlike “HSM3,” “Footloose” will aim for an older teen and adult demo. Efron is just about set in a deal that will pay him a mid-seven-figure salary and give him script approval.
Zadan and Meron are established producers of musicals “Chicago” and “Hairspray,” the latter of which was Efrons first feature. Zadan also was a producer of the original 1984 “Footloose.” They join Sellers, who has put two years of work into the musical with Ortega.
While Sollett rewrites the Hartmere script, the studio is working on new songs that will complement some of the memorable original tunes. Though the Herb Ross-directed film wasnt a musical, screenwriter Dean Pitchford wrote lyrics for songs that included the Kenny Loggins title song as well as “Lets Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and “Holding Out for a Hero.” At least some of those tunes are expected to be in the new movie.
“Footloose” spawned one of the biggest-selling soundtracks of its era and made a star of Kevin Bacon. Source

Jonas Brothers Movie – Walter The Farting Dog
The Jonas Brothers are unstoppable, y’all! In addition to making music, touring, Camp Rock, and their upcoming TV series, J*O*N*A*S, the boys, including little brother Frankie, are set to start filming a movie for the big screen. It will be called Walter the Farting Dog based on a series of children’s books.
From People.com
Brace yourselves, Disney fans. The Jonas Brothers are about to get bigger than ever!
The teen pop stars have signed on to make their big screen debut in Walter The Farting Dog, the trade journal Variety reports.
The boys will appear alongside their younger brother Frankie sometimes known as the “Bonus Jonas” in the film, which is scheduled to start shooting in Spring 2009.
Based on a bestselling series of books by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray, the movie casts the teen heartthrobs as musicians whose sickly great-aunt asks them to care for her stupendously smelly canine companion.
“By the time they’ve driven the dog home, everybody’s head is out the window of the family station wagon,” said Peter Farrelly half of the famous Farrelly Brothers directing team who has been closely involved in developing the film. “But Frankie has a serious sinus problem and doesn’t notice the stench coming from Walter.”
So while his siblings provide the music, Frankie and the gaseous pooch get involved in a series of family-friendly adventures, eventually thwarting a team of jewel thieves.
This may be their first major movie, but Nick, Joe and Kevin are certainly no strangers to the camera. Their TV flick Camp Rock was a mega-hit, and they’re now preparing for their own Disney series, J*O*N*A*S.
