Honey, you apparently have someone on your Myspace friends that is taking much joy in leaking your personal pics to all the celebrity gossip blogs. I defended your sleepover pics. They were completely innocent in my opinion but the most recent ones (that I am not going to link to)? Not so much. I’m disappointed. And concerned.
Is this what all teenage girls do in the privacy of their rooms? Take half naked pics of themselves and post them on myspace? Apparently so. My girls will NOT have access to a computer in their rooms for this very reason. EVER. I’m dead serious. I see it way too much.
To my teen readers: please know that while it may be cool and funny to take these types pics they are archived on the internet FOREVER. Do you hear me? FOREVER. You can delete delete delete and they will still be there tucked safely away just waiting for your future employers to dig them up and NOT give you that job that you so desperately need.
I’m just disgusted.

some of those don’t look like her… HMMMM.
Unfortunately, after going into my daughter’s MySpace account and seeing some of her friends accounts, these pictures are pretty accurate with what teens are up to these days. It irritates me to no end that the parents are totally oblivious to this! I know every picture that has went up on my girls MySpace and if I don’t approve of it, it comes down ASAP. I’m really really picky about it all.
I think her putting these up is totally inappropriate. I’d love to know what her parents thoughts are on this and why the heck they can’t monitor their child. Grr! It makes me so mad!
I have to say that places like Perez and the other places really are risking it for placing these on their websites, because she’s a minor. I’d hate to be them when trouble comes their way for helping make these public.
I’m skeptical of those photos as well. And I’m also upset that her PR is wanting her to look more grown up. It bothers me when they do that to young singers. Overnight it happens. Remember with Hillary Duff. =o/
You are absolutely right, Gina, and I just took the link out to that Celeb gossip site that has the pictures up. Totally wrong and I didn’t even think about it like that. It just really bugs me that she is moving into the direction of Vanessa Anne. If her parents are as strict as they say they are then they need to put a stop to this. I’m thinking about all the young girls that look up to her.

I just stumbled across your site and I wanted to say thanks for voicing reason. I just came through a frustrating thread of parenting blogs were it seems some parents are more interested in being perceived (either by their piers and/or kids) as funny and cool, but were reiterating old and destructive stereotypes (of both moms and dads). So frustrating to me, perhaps I lost my sense of humor or something.
Anyway, yes I agree with you. I just wrote a post about the dangers of proxy servers, you might be interested in how kids get around parental filtering software. Parents should not let kids have computers in their bedroom – period. And definitely no web-cams. That’s my feeling anyway.

Thanks for your comment, Meta-Dad. I totally agree. I have 3 daughters ages 6-9 and they will never have computers in their room or camera phones. It’s only asking for trouble.

yes there are alot of teenage girls that do this…it is dissapointing, but no, I dont take pictures like that of myself..alot of my friends do and that is there problem, I couldnt care less…my point is that, there are still some girls like me with some sense of class for pictures..you can check out my myspace if you’d like…(though my profile is pretty revolting, my pictures arent)
